when working on this, I happened to be in the same room as some other MH players & I was trying to figure out…just HOW these hunters carry their swords on their backs. turns out they just kind of float on their backs. huh.

This week’s it’s commenter Bunny’s original characters Charity (top) and Mercy (bottom). Mercy is posing next to a Rathian, sporting the great sword that was posted here a few days ago. Charity is kneeling beside a Rathalos. Both girls know their way around a dragon or two! Here they are sitting high up on a snowy hill. This is second in a series of three pictures for Bunny. Sarah here! The past week I worked on the first of a variety of commissions I received. It features commenter Bunny’s original character (yes, also named Bunny!) hanging out with an Urcusis. They found a sunny patch while traveling through a snowy forest. A perfect time for a break, right? Bunny decides to have a snack while the Urcusis nods off in the sun.
This was a fun project. The most time was probably spent on the armor detail. I’ve been starting to play around with textures too.

Sarah here! The second chapter of my online comic just ended so I’ve decided to take a break before the third one starts. Meanwhile I am opening commissions for Monster Hunter fans!

This is the first time I’ve “officially” opened for commissions - so far I’ve only been getting freelance work through word-of-mouth. Received 4 MonHun commissions so far after a tentative announcement on last week’s podcast. Hopefully this announcement will make it easier for people to request things :>

Has it been ten episodes since the last wallpaper already? Here is the Lagiacrus wallpaper I made for episode 20 of My Fair Hunter. The download will be available tomorrow when the episode goes up!
So this one took a lot longer than the Barroth one. Since the Lagiacrus is basically like a dragon-esque water snake, I wanted to really push myself and work with a dynamic silhouette. I liked the idea of his face turning in the background as though he’s noticing an intruder so I wanted to incorporate that. It took me maybe an hour alone just to figure out a good silhouette that I could work with. I’m so glad I did that though because it made it easier to compose the Lagiacrus when it actually came time to draw it.
The parts I had the most trouble with were the back and tail end. I tried hard to not let the back get too overwhelming and lost in detail. I’m not sure how much I succeeded though. I spent like maybe 2 hours on the red part of the tail because I wanted to keep the balance between simplicity and enough detail so that you know the tail is barbed. There were a lot of times where things weren’t coming out the way I envisioned it, so I would have to go back and start over, augh. Overall I think I’m pretty happy with it though.

A new wallpaper I created for My Fair Hunter! Since I completed my first urgent event quest (along with reaching the 10th episode mark) I wanted to commemorate it with a new goodie for MFH viewers. The wallpapers in various sizes will be available to download on Monday (10/23) on the My Fair Hunter site.
Since it’s kind of boring to just reblog this, I figure I’ll use this tumblr as a way to explain my process!
This took about 3-5 hours I think. He is supposed to be head-butting the side of the screen but I think it just looks more like he is running by haha. I originally wanted simple shapes but I kept adding more and more detail until it ended up more textured than I envisioned. It was actually a little bit challenging since his body has so much going on and I wanted to reduce it to a simple illustration. His limbs and mouth area were probably the hardest to sort through without making it look really cluttered.
This is my first time really drawing a dinosaur-ish thing and it was pretty fun overall. I tried to restrain myself on the cute factor as well (in fact, when telling a MH-playing friend that I drew a Barroth his initial response was “so what, it’s super cutesy and has hearts all over it?”). :P
